Knettishall Heath is a beautiful Suffolk Wildlife Trust nature reserve with an interesting history. There is a Bronze Age burial ground and evidence of even earlier human occupation through the patterned ground. At the end of the last ice age repeated freezing and thawing of the ground created a unique mixing of the sandy soil and the underlying chalk. The resulting landscape today, thanks to the careful managing of Suffolk Wilfe Trust, is an open and undulating landscape with heather and woodlands. It makes for an inspiring walk any time of year!
